This Privacy Policy explains how I, Jennifer Mckenzie, use and protect any information that you give to me when you use my counselling service. I am committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected. If you provide information which could identify you when using this website, it will only be used in accordance with this privacy policy.

Information I may collect

You may give me information such as your name, address, phone number and email address, by filling in forms on my website or by corresponding with me by phone or e-mail. If we agree to work together I also make basic factual notes of what we discuss in our sessions in keeping with the BACP’s professional guidelines. These are kept secure in a locked cabinet.

Uses made of the information

I only use your information with your permission for the running of my business including:

  • Contacting you about appointments;
  • Internal record keeping;
  • To maintain my financial records;
  • Any reports you request from me.
  • Disclosure of your information

All my dealings with you and any information that I have about you is confidential except if you present a serious risk to yourself or others, or where I have a legal obligation to share information, in rare cases such as terrorism, money laundering or radicalisation.

Access to information

You can request access to the personal information that I hold about you. I will provide this except in rare cases, such as terrorism, when I am not permitted to.

You may request amendments to the personal information I hold about you that is inaccurate or out-of-date. If you request that I delete your personal information, I will take all reasonable steps to do so unless I need to keep it for legal or accounting purposes.

Disposal of information

I safely and securely dispose of all records including contact details one year after we conclude our work together unless we agree otherwise or, in rare cases, where I have a legal obligation to keep the information.
