What is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy. You and I will embark on a journey together in a relationship of trust and respect. You can explore your thoughts and feelings in a safe and supportive environment on this journey. Within our working relationship, you will be valued, heard and listened to without judgment. You will have the autonomy to direct our work to whatever is important to you.
Counselling will help guide you as you navigate life’s challenges, help you focus on what’s important to you, and give you the time and space to make sense of that. Engaging in therapy can help build self-esteem, confidence, resilience, and your ability to cope and manage what each day brings.
Benefits of Counselling
Counselling has many benefits, but you may feel apprehensive and worried about taking the leap into the unknown. Finding a counsellor can be daunting, and knowing where to begin may be difficult. Finding someone you feel ‘fits with you is the most important part of therapy.
A good relationship with your counsellor is a great foundation and starting point for effecting growth and change. Counselling and talking therapies generally involve talking to a trained professional about what you are perhaps struggling with or experiencing and want to understand better. It offers great success with anxiety and depression. While there are several different therapies and techniques available, the aims are generally the same.
